Spectrum Last Stroll
Comcast-Spectacor, owners and operators of the Spectrum, is opening the legendary arena and inviting the public to take one final stroll around the Spectrum on Saturday, October 24, before the final act, Pearl Jam, closes America’s showplace. The “Last Stroll” begins at 10 a.m. and will continue until 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The “Last Stroll” is being presented by SportsRadio 610 WIP who will be broadcasting live from the Spectrum during the event. Demolition of the Spectrum will make way for Philly Live, a spectacular new retail, restaurant, and entertainment district. Cordish Company, of Baltimore, MD, a world-renowned developer of similar projects throughout North America, is partnering with Comcast-Spectacor in Philly Live.

Operation Free Veterans for American Power Bus Tour to Visit Pennsylvania to Discuss Climate Change and National Security Threats. Military veterans are traveling across the country on a 21-state bus tour to talk to citizens and local community leaders about the dangers of climate change and its threat to national security. Sweat for Hope in Profugo’s 5K Run/Walk Fundraiser. MEDIA, PA – Profugo, a local non-profit organization, will host Sweat for Hope at 9:00 am on October 24, 2009 at Ridley Creek State Park. This 5K Run/Walk is a fundraising event for Profugo’s innovative sustainable development programs. People of all ages and abilities are welcomed to this event. Alert Service Allows Subscribers To Find Out First About Local Emergencies. Local Emergency Management Officials Urge All Southeastern Pennsylvanians to Sign Up for Text and E-mail Alerts Through Web Site. The southeastern region of Pennsylvania is prone to severe storms and flooding, especially during the summer months. ReadyNotifyPA’s Web site makes it easy for residents to register for notifications that alert subscribers of these and other situations. Upon registration, subscribers can select how they would like to receive the alerts—via text message or e-mail. Alerts cover a breadth of situations and emergencies, including severe storms, floods, AMBER alerts, chemical spills, black ice, road closings and more. The service also keeps subscribers abreast of pertinent information related to health epidemics such as the recent H1N1 flu outbreak.
